The Free Library is one of the most important and widely used educational and cultural institutions in Greater Philadelphia. Each year, we welcome 6 million visitors to our 54 libraries throughout the city and another 9 million visitors to freelibrary.org. We offer 25,000 engaging and enlightening programs for all ages, circulate more than 7 million items, and preserve hundreds of thousands of rare and unique items in our special collections, from ancient cuneiform tablets to the personal letters of Charles Dickens.
And we simply couldn’t do it without you.
Through the generosity of private support, the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation supports many of the Library’s incredible programs that enhance literacy, guide learning, and inspire curiosity throughout our region.
Learn more about the many ways you can support the Free Library Foundation in order to make the gift that’s right for you:
- Annual Fund
Donations to the Annual Fund are vital to the day-to-day operation of the Library and will be used where the Library needs it most. The George S. Pepper Society recognizes those who make a gift of $1,000 or more and the Raven Society honors supporters in their 20s and 30s who make a gift of $75 or more.
- Planned Giving
By making a planned gift—a bequest, Charitable Gift Annuity, or a gift of plans or policies—you help ensure that the Library will continue to transform lives for generations to come.
- Corporate Giving
The opportunities for corporate involvement at the Free Library are as diverse as our programs. The Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation is an Educational Improvement Organization (EIO).
